Installing ABAX has helped plant hire business FDS become more efficient
FDS (Cambridge) Ltd is a family-run haulage, plant-hire, skip-hire and aggregate supplier based near Ely in Cambridgeshire. Having full control of the company’s fleet of vehicles and plant, as well as individual assets, is essential, not only for efficiency and cost control, but also compliance.
Charley McCulloch is a Compliance Manager at FDS and liaises daily with customers and drivers. She says her job would be impossible without a solution like ABAX. Charley explains:
“We log into our ABAX tracker every morning – the rule at FDS is, it’s always on the screen. Our work is very ad-hoc so we need to know constantly where our vehicles are. It helps when talking to customers with ETAs and talking to drivers, helping to direct them into tricky sites or difficult to find home addresses.”
With remote working and the need to be out in the yard at times, away from the computer screen, the mobile App comes into its own. It's also invaluable for Charley who needs to be able to pull off reports on a weekly and monthly basis.
As well as the security aspect of knowing where vehicles and equipment are, Charley can use the system for proof of delivery when drivers struggle to find someone on site for sign-off. Instead, she simply prints off a Fleet Trip Stop report.
