Connecting a driver and RFID number

A driver can be linked to their RFID number via two ways – ‘in-vehicle mode’ or ‘office mode’.

In-vehicle mode

To link a driver to their RFID number using the in-vehicle mode, the driver should log on to a vehicle with their unconnected RFID card/tag. (If they are not completing a trip, they can log off by pressing the ‘X’ button.) The administrator can then connect the RFID number to the driver by selecting ‘RFID Log’ from the ‘Triplog’ main menu and generating a report.

RFID log

The example report below shows that a driver logged on to a vehicle with the registration number ‘LN16JZL’ on the 16.02.2018. The ‘Event ‘column displays the unassigned RFID number.

To link the RFID number to the driver, click on that row and a pop-up window will appear. From the drop-down menu, select the driver who logged on and press OK. That driver and RFID number are now connected in the system.

Repeat this process for all drivers.

Office mode:

To link a driver to their RFID number using office mode, press and hold the ‘x’ button while simultaneously using a paperclip to reset the reader – the light will blink if completed successfully. Now connect the reader to your PC or laptop using the USB cable supplied - the blue light will indicate you are now in ‘office mode’.

From the ‘Triplog’ main menu, select ‘Drivers’. Select the driver you would like to connect a RFID number to and highlight the ‘Remote ID’ field. Then scan that drivers RFID card/tag on the reader and their number will populate the field.

To exit ‘office mode’, reset the reader using the reset button and disconnect the USB cable.
