Getting started

ABAX Smart Connect overview

ABAX Smart Connect allows you to add connected OEM machines from world-leading manufacturers directly to your ABAX Account. With the click of a button, you can connect your machines and get instant access to all the ISO 15143-3 (also known as AEMP) machine data in one account.

No ABAX hardware needed, no installation, no downtime. Once an asset is connected via ABAX Smart Connect, it will function the same as if it was being tracked using ABAX hardware. Simply Connected.

See the "ABAX Smart Connect" homepage for more information: https://www.abax.com/uk/smart-connect

  • Use the toggle to button to enable the asset(s). If you click ‘Close’ or click off the window, your changes are automatically saved.

Note: You can only enable as many assets as there are connections available on your account. Once you reach your limit, you must either order more connections (contact ABAX to do this) or disable an asset to enable another. Please note, connections are flexible and assets can be enabled and disabled as you wish. See “How do connections work?” for more information xxx

  • The asset(s) is instantly available in your ABAX account and will now appear on the map and in reports. Try refreshing your browser if you are having trouble finding the asset.

How do I see the sensor data for each unit? (Equipment details)

ABAX Equipment Control assets, such as large machinery, have input sensors that can provide a variety of data. You can find that information in two places – (1) from the map (see " How do I see the sensor data for each unit? (Map)" or the from ‘Equipment details’ see below.

  • Click on an asset from the list and locate the ‘Sensor Readings’ section.
  • The sensor readings field will display all available sensor data for that asset.

Note: The data points (sensors) available will differ depending on a variety of factors such as machinery manufacturer, type, age etc. To help, we have compiled a directory for each manufacturer - See the "Smart Connect OEM" page for more information

What sensor data is available for each manufacturer?

The ABAX system supports all 19 data points associated with the ISO 15143-3 (also known as AEMP). So any data available in any supported OEM system is also available in ABAX Smart Connect. However, please note that not all manufacturers make use of all 19 data points.

To give you an overview, we have compiled a directory for each manufacturer - See the "Smart Connect OEM" homepage for more information.

Additionally, for all possible data points and an explanation of each see "AEMP Telematics Data Endpoints" for more information.

How do I get my credentials?

In order to enable an ABAX Smart Connect integration, you will need your API credentials. The name of these credentials varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, but to help, we have complied a directory. See the "Smart Connect OEM" homepage for more information.

How do connections work?

ABAX Smart Connect connections act as a flexible subscription. You order how many you need and then you enable or disable them across your assets as you wish. One connection counts towards one asset. If a connection is enabled, it will appear on the map and send data (for reporting), if the connection is disabled it will not appear on the map or send any data.

For example, in June, you order 10 connections and use them to enable each of your 10 excavators. In July, you decide to disable 5 of the excavators and to enable 5 bulldozers instead.

In June, your map and reports will feature 10 excavators.

In July, your map and reports will feature 5 excavators and 5 bulldozers.

However, if you create a report to cover both June and July, you will see data collected from when any asset had an enabled connection. This means, the 5 disabled excavators will appear in future reports, but the data shown is only from when their connection was enabled.

Contact ABAX, to order more connections any time.
